Description

Raymund is a floor lamp designed for modern living spaces. In the process of developing the design, a lot of thought was given towards the product attitude, wanting to find an appropriate balance between beauty and quirkiness. The luminaire is powered by a 7 Watt LED light source, and the copper reflector provides a very warm and rich light. On its base, Raymund has a button for turning it on and off, and on the frame, a dimmer for controlling the light intensity.

Trio is an ensemble of three coffee tables developed for the home context. The basic idea of having three tables instead of one, is the added versatility as they can be arranged to fit different situations. In a scenario of having guests over, the tables can be spread, so they are within everyones reach. On a regular day, they can be kept close together so they don’t take up too much space.

Description

Commissioned by the municipality of Copenhagen, the CPH Urban Toilet is a sanitary solution designed for areas with a higher-than-average concentration of drug abusers and vagrants. The toilet stands out amongst other public toilets, as it blurs the borders between outside and inside – It’s creating a safe place for sanitary use, without creating a place of residence.

Furthermore, the Urban Toilet is designed with emergency situations in mind, making it easy for paramedics to extract a collapsed person from under the doors. The toilet is also a lot lighter, simpler, smaller and cheaper to install and maintain than other public toilets, making it an attractive solution for cities around the world. Its simplicity has created the opportunity of seasonal use, making it attractive to install on beaches and in parks around Copenhagen during the summer.

For use at this years Copenhagen Distortion Festival, two new urinal concepts has been developed by PeeBetter to accommodate pee-needs at the festival, and others alike. The design team at UiWE (including yours truly) and Sara Nanna, has put their heads together and come up with solutions that puts the users first – The results offers incomparable hygiene and great alternatives to the claustrophobic and smelly plastic containers that used to be the only option.

Street Pee
Street Pee differentiates from other open air urinals, as it can be attached directly to any grate, leaving problems like overfilled tanks and pipe installations behind. As if this wasn’t enough, the urinal is easily disassembled and takes up a fraction of the space in storage, when compared to other street urinals.

Taking the best from the past and present, for a radio of tomorrow.

Reviewing my own work, i think a combination of nostalgic technology and contemporary aesthetics gives this little radio a very unique character. The flickering glow of the tube amplifier and its renowned sound quality, secures a visual and auditory thrill; adding depth to the ‘radio experience’. It has been designed with everyday usage in mind, resulting in the completely analogue interface for simple and accurate interaction.

Yanko Design

Description

Nestor was a spare time project, and a personal uprising against the ordinary box shaped speaker. The project resulted in this highly experimental concept, designed to look technically convincing, yet sophisticated and delicate. The streamlined cabinet shapes are not only looking neat, but performs with a very decent, low level of internal reflections, resulting in very high quality sound. Most surfaces are brushed or anodized to make the speaker look clean, even if it has a layer of dust on it. Specs: Each 3-way speaker holds a 10 Inch kevlar woofer, a 3 Inch middle tone and a 1,5 Inch aluminium tweeter. The height is roughly 120 cm, and Nestor is envisioned in two finishes; umber-couloured anodized, or with semi-matte white paint.

Description

This was a spare time project that evolved from the basic goal of creating a shelf, to an exploration of shape, abstract recognition, structural feasibility and usability.

Shape and recognition
The shape, and its resemblance to a snail, is designed with the intent of providing an additional perceptive experience. The idea was to try and blur the border between a shelf, which is just a shelf, and a shelf that enables a secondary interpretation.

Construction and usability
The shelf is pushing the limits in technical feasibility as itis barely buildable, and it might even tilt over if loaded wrong. It is also questioning the importance of havinghorizontal storage space – the paradigm is challenged thus encouraging the owner to reflect, on how to utilise the space.

Empathy Study - 6 days without Internet or cellphone. A movie I made during a project kick-off. It is about living in todays world, but without access to internet, phone or any other digital communication. The goal was to find key insights as a basis for the project.
